January 1, 2023The African Way technical team is further strengthened with the addition of the new honorary member Rainer Hettenbach and the formalization of a partnership with the architecture office Degen Hettenbach & Partner
For the first half of 2023, the first workshop entitled "Co-Creation Workshop in Natural Building" is planned, to be taught by Rainer Hettenbach, with the special participation of members of Better World Cameroom, in Portugal. Be aware! We will soon release more information.
Short summary about Rainer Hettenbach
Draftsman 1968-79, Architecture Study at the Technical University of Basel 1980-83, self employed since 1983, Planning and Realisation of the Vocational School COTECC in Bafut/Cameroon 1983-89 with wife and partner Claudia Degen, member of the Bafut Society since 12-1988 bearing traditional names Ntonifor & Mamfor.
Since 1995 engaged in the field of consequent Ecological Building and specialized in Earth Building. Two earth-projects realised in Northern Nigeria for the EYN Church in Mubi and Kwarhi 2002-04, 1995 till today mainly housing projects in Switzerland for private clients.
Organizer of Earthbuilding Workshops/Courses and of numerous earthbuilding study-tours to various European Countries (eg Portugal, England, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Austria) for members of the «IG-Lehm» (Swiss Earthbuiders Association), Secretary of the Association 2001-2013, since 2019 Earthbuilding Information-Hotline of the IG-Lehm.
