Ancestral Medicines Ceremony

Following the partnership recently signed with the Association Minabu Shunu, based in Jordão – Acre – Brazil, African Way in partnership with CAMPINTEGRA – Association for Social and Environmental Development, is organizing two sessions of “Ancestral Medicines Ceremony” with Cacique Paje Bane Kaxinawa of the Huni Kuin Kaxinawa indigenous tribe, who will conduct the rite with the collaboration of Ikuani Sara.

Born in Belgium, Ikuani Sara has been involved with the Brazilian Huni Kuin Kaxinawa tribe since 2019. Since her 10-month healing immersion in the tribe (in 2021), Ikuani Sara has made a pact with Cacique Pajé Bane Kaxinawa, bringing to Europe their ancestral knowledge, and in return supporting their tribe in raising financial resources to improve life in the village (e.g. clean water, culture, creation of a healing centre, etc.)

The sessions will take place on the 5th and 6th of May 2023, starting at 4:00 pm, at Aldeia do Meio (Estrada de Porto Salvo, 22, Oeiras).

The ceremonies will begin with a presentation followed by a conversation (question and answer cycle) with Chief Pajé Bane Kaxinawa. Then, there will be the consecration of ancestral medicines, paintings with genipap, traditional songs and meditation with a drum.

We believe that this will be a unique moment for ancestry to flood the heart, body and soul of all those who accept our invitation to this which, without a doubt, will be a ritual of sharing and healing.

Following the tradition of the Association Minabu Shunu, there is no fixed monetary value for participation in this ceremony. What we ask for is a “conscious donation” contribution so that we can bear the logistical costs. Furthermore, we point out that the proceeds will be fully donated to the Association Minabu Shunu.
