African Way is officially launching its 1st Eco Camp in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal, from 16th to the 18th September 2022, to promote young people and women capacity building circular economy and environmental regeneration.
The Eco Camp is open to anyone who wants to improve their communities and themselves through hands-on regenerative education, focused on the principles of Permaculture, reflections on transforming youth exchange, appropriate technology in landscape regeneration and community love.
This will be a unique example of a South North Partnership and activity agreement co-created based on the heritage of partner Better World Cameroon who has been organizing international work camps and useful holiday programs since 2011.
Our mission is to institute an annual work camp and volunteer program in partnership with alternative community initiatives and Permaculture projects in Europe.
Our aim is to bring people from various backgrounds to work side-by-side with their African counterparts while sharing sustainable development perspectives and fostering cultural understanding.
The African Way campsite is a peaceful, restful area on the outskirt of Montemor-o-Novo in a Permaculture Garden, a place where people come to enjoy living with nature.
For the period of this event, participants get a rich understanding of deep ecology /global environmental issues, and at the same time discover real life in a community setting. They equally take part in a number of activities that allow them to co-create alongside other participants, augment their knowledge about environmental and sustainable development issues; during which new ideas related to cross-culture education and social innovation are generated. Practical workshops presenting alternative sustainable means of livelihood such as composting, High value Agriculture Products HVAP, soil building, tree planting, rocket stove building which will bring together participants and local community are equally carried out. This is a moment for the participants to rethink and fine-tune the pathways they want to walk in life.
