As part of the activities program of the 1st Eco Camp African Way event, the awareness action to clean the Almansor River, in Montemor-o-Novo, aims to visualize the real pollution conditions of the river and discuss strategies for its cleaning and recovery , so urgent for the sustainable development of the region.

Once, the Almansor River was used for fishing, swimming, socializing, camping, picnics... Due to discharges from the industry, pig farms and the city's wastewater network, and the disregard for the ecological flow in the Minutos Dam, the river was polluted. The springs and weirs were no longer maintained, the banks became impassable, the river began to dry up in the summer and people stopped using it.

At 09:00, participants of the 1st Eco Camp African Way will depart from "Quinta Monte Cardal" for a guided field trip along the Montado Greenway to "Horta de São Pedro".

At 10:00 am, in "Horta de São Pedro", where the Almansor River flows, the awareness action will begin with the participation of AMORA – Associação de Moradores do Rio Almansor and other members of the local community.
